Kappes, Cassiday & Associates (KCA) is a mining engineering, metallurgical testwork, and EPCM firm headquartered in Reno, Nevada. Founded in 1972, KCA has delivered 500+ engineering projects, 17 EPCM contracts, and 74 modular plants on six continents.
KCA is the only mid-size mining engineering firm in North America with its own in-house metallurgical laboratory. Most EPCM firms outsource testwork. We don't — which means the flowsheet you sign off on is designed by the same team that builds the plant. One handoff. Fewer surprises. Predictable results.
KCA's first U.S. project at Manhattan, Nevada in 1972 was only the third heap leach in the world. Since then, KCA has set industry standards in heap leach design, ADR plant engineering, Merrill-Crowe circuits, modular plants, and HPGR application — and we've trained generations of metallurgists who now run plants around the world.
KCA operates from a 41,000 ft² facility in Reno, Nevada, including a 20,000 ft² fabrication shop and our metallurgical laboratory. The lab receives 100+ project samples per year from clients on six continents. Our engineering bench, lab staff, and construction crews work side by side in the same building.
Kappes Cassiday del Norte (Chihuahua, Mexico) supports operations in Mexico and Central America. KCA Australia (High Wycombe, Western Australia) serves Asia-Pacific clients. Both affiliates maintain KCA engineering standards and technical capability.
Whether you’re at scoping stage or ready to break ground, KCA has the lab capacity, engineering bench, and EPCM experience to deliver.
