KCA completed a feasibility study for this mill/heap leach project and was subsequently awarded an EPCM contract for the $134M Pinos Altos mine. Site construction began early 2008; startup followed in 2009.
Pinos Altos combines a 2,000 tonne-per-day heap leach pad with a 4,000 tonne-per-day milling operation — agitated leach circuit, Merrill-Crowe extraction plant, and CCD circuit with dry-stack tailings. A complex multi-circuit delivery that exercised KCA's full mine-to-metal capability.
