1. Our Commitment

Kappes, Cassiday & Associates ("KCA") is committed to ensuring that kcareno.com is accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities and those using assistive technologies. We believe everyone has the right to access information about our engineering, metallurgical, and EPCM services on equal terms.

We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and referenced by Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

2. Conformance Status

This site is designed and tested to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Conformance is reviewed continuously through a combination of automated testing, manual review, and assistive-technology user testing. Where a third-party component falls short of full conformance, we work with the vendor to remediate or replace it.

3. Accessibility Features

kcareno.com incorporates the following accessibility features:

  • Semantic HTML structure with proper landmark roles (header, nav, main, footer, aside) for assistive-technology navigation
  • Sufficient color contrast on text and interactive elements (minimum 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components)
  • Keyboard-navigable menus, forms, and interactive elements — every action is reachable without a mouse
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • Descriptive alt text on meaningful images; decorative images marked appropriately
  • Form labels associated with inputs for screen-reader compatibility, plus inline error messaging
  • Responsive layout that adapts to screen size, zoom level (up to 400%), and orientation
  • Accessibility widget (bottom-left of every page) for on-the-fly adjustments: text size, line spacing, color filters for color blindness, high-contrast modes, link highlighting, cursor color, reading mask, read-aloud, and more

4. Accessibility Widget (ADAWebPro)

Every page of kcareno.com includes an accessibility widget powered by ADAWebPro (an affiliate of YelloPost, which built this site). Click the accessibility icon at the bottom-left of any page to:

  • Increase or decrease text size
  • Adjust line height, letter spacing, and word spacing
  • Toggle a dyslexia-friendly typeface
  • Apply high-contrast or monochrome color schemes
  • Apply color-blind filters (Protanopia, Deuteranopia, Tritanopia)
  • Highlight links, headings, or focusable elements
  • Pause animations and motion
  • Enable a reading mask or spotlight
  • Hide images and replace them with alt text
  • Navigate by heading or landmark
  • Activate read-aloud (text-to-speech)
  • Reset all changes

Settings persist across pages and visits via local storage on your device. No personal information is collected by the widget.

5. Compatible Assistive Technologies

kcareno.com is tested and designed to work with current versions of the following assistive technologies and browsers:

  • Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), TalkBack (Android), Narrator (Windows)
  • Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (current and one prior major version)
  • Operating systems: Windows 10/11, macOS, iOS 14+, Android 10+
  • Input methods: Mouse, keyboard, touch, voice control (Dragon, Voice Control)

6. Known Limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Older PDFs in our Professional Papers archive may not be fully tagged. We are remediating these on a rolling basis. If you need an accessible version of a specific paper, contact us and we will provide one within 5 business days.
  • Third-party embedded content (e.g., investor-relations links to client websites) is outside our direct control.
  • Some legacy product photography may have generic alt text pending detailed captioning.

7. Ongoing Effort

Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time project. We audit the site quarterly, retest after every major content release, and welcome feedback from users who encounter barriers. Staff who create web content receive periodic accessibility training.

8. Alternative Formats

If you cannot access information on this site in its current form, KCA will provide the information in an alternative accessible format at no charge. Available alternatives include:

  • Large print (PDF or paper)
  • Plain-text email
  • Phone consultation with a KCA representative
  • Accessible PDF on request

9. Report an Accessibility Barrier

If you experience any difficulty accessing kcareno.com, please let us know. Your feedback helps us improve. When you report an issue, please include:

  • The page URL where you encountered the issue

10. Formal Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice under Title III of the ADA at ada.gov.

11. Technical Specifications

This site relies on the following technologies for conformance with the accessibility standards used:

  • HTML5 (semantic markup)
  • WAI-ARIA where native semantics are insufficient
  • CSS3 (Cascading Style Sheets)
  • Progressive-enhancement JavaScript (the site remains usable with JavaScript disabled, though some interactive features require it)
